WHAT IS THCV?
THCV provides users with a focused, clear-headed and energetic high with (some studies suggest) less chance of anxiety.
THCV also posses appetite-suppressing capabilities, and in high doses, feelings of euphoria.
THCV is a different cannabinoid than THC, though they only differ by one hydrocarbon chain. Even though they’re similar on a molecular level, they produce very different benefits.
Many users find some strains high in THC make them anxious and paranoid, or on the other hand, drowsy and lethargic. THCV essentially neutralizes these effects, leaving you with all the benefits of both cannabinoids.
Scientists aren’t completely sure whether THCV is an antagonist to the CB1 receptors that THC binds to in our endocannabinoid system, or if it just straight-up neutralizes some effects of THC. But what we do know is that it works together with THC to give us the best of both cannabinoids.
THCV is found in rare landraces all over the world, though it usually is only found in small amounts. VIVA has spent close to a decade collecting these rare strains and increasing the amount of THCV found in them through our intensive breeding program.
Our products contain both THC and THCV (single sourced) because they work so well together.
When THCV works with other cannabis compounds in what’s known as the Entourage Effect, a variety of new effects are produced.
Because the widely-used terms “sativa” and “indica” are somewhat inadequate when it comes to describing these effects, we’ve created an Animal Entourage to help represent and explain the effects of our THCV products to users.
